LIMITATION PERIOD

There are time limits in regards to missold endowment compensation and it is usually necessary to take action to claim a re fund within three years of receipt of a ‘red’ letter warning of a shortfall. Some insurance companies have agreed with their customers to extend that three year period however a number that previously did not take issue with the expiry of the time limit are now doing so. If you have received a ‘red’ letter which indicates a fund shortfall it is important that you take professional advice and send a formal endowment complaint letter to the insurance company without delay . Once the limitation period has expired the opportunity to claim compensation may have been lost forever. The limitation period does not start to run upon receipt of an amber letter which merely gives warning that the fund status may in due course give cause for concern.
